Chief Minister on Road...

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his cabinet had to spent a night on the road in protest of Center’s decision not to remove the three or four police officers accused of dereliction of duty. He went prepared for a long haul spanning ten days or more that had the potential to upset the Republic Day celebrations. Was it unprecedented? Perhaps yes when you consider this that a Chief Minister has to make a request for suspension or transferring police officials found guilty of protecting criminals? His actions led to anarchy and the CM had to proclaim that he is indeed an anarchist. Much to his criticism on all quarters. A Union Home Minister had to hide behind the farce of an inquiry to ensure that the firebrand AAP does not get to assert control over the police that may lead to exhibiting visible improvement in the law and order situation. He finally gave in to his inner feeling and proclaimed him "veda". The Union External Affairs Minister denied any communication from Uganda High Commission and rejected the letter as being seven month old therefore not of any consequences. This he did for refuting that any sex racket involving foreign nationals exists and Delhi Law Minister is exceeding his brief by being vigilante. AAP later released eight video clippings to provide some insight of what their Law Minister was fighting for.

Talking of the Chief Minister…..
·         When was it that a one year old political party was asked to form a government who did not get full majority and a Chief Minister was sworn in without asking for support from their arch rivals against whom a bitter election campaign was fought? Smarting from the humiliating defeat, Congress party offered support to APP only because it wanted to see Arvind Kejriwal deviating from the stated position of high moral ground and then deriding him with “we told you he is farce…” slogan. BJP did not believe that its prospects of forming the government could be so easily jeopardized by a single cunning move of Congress party and is still sulking with “B team theory”.
·         When was it that a Chief Minister indeed remained an AAM ADMI, and did not become ‘khas’ just because he was sworn in as a CM of Delhi? Had he been a part of the rotten system he would have been more than welcome to sack any number of policewalas, bureaucrats or government officials. Isn’t history replete of Nagpals, Khemkas and likes of them?

Talking of Police Inaction……
·         Is this a secret that in our country not only criminals but businessmen, common men and aggrieved complainants also have to pay bribe to the police so that they can survive and continue with what they do for their living?
·         Does it surprises anybody in this country to know that police personnel themselves have to pay money to their bosses for getting postings and positions where money can be made?
·         Does anybody believe that higher positions in police hierarchy are conferred on the basis of merit alone and police can remain apolitical if they are to lead a semblance of normal life? Who better to know this than Dr Kiran Bedi herself? It is a different matter that she cannot echo these sentiments now.
·         Control over police force is an essential requirement of corrupt political class in power so they can selectively apply this force for coercion.

Talking of Anarchy and the Chief Minister who claims to be an Anarchist…..
·         The Government at the center feels that if they relent to any of the demands of AAP it would lead to emboldening of the AAP. AAP on the other hand wants to fire all guns to take advantage of Congress party’s inability to face growing strength of BJP on its own. Today the word anarchy has lost its meaning in the politics of convenience.
·         Arvind Kejriwal is no ordinary CM and his power lies in his unorthodox method of practicing politics. He is known to do the undoable and unexpected. His move to sit on protest is aimed at giving befitting reply to the speculations originating from Cong as well as BJP camps that he can either be a proxy to stall NAMO in 2014 elections or he is playing the match as B Team of Congress.
·         If and the BIG question is If;  Arvind Kejriwal continues to retain his AAM ADMI character and willingness to fight the corruption; he must be allowed to draw Congress and BJP on their knees irrespective of these aberrations. In the longer run the seasoned corrupt politicians will think twice to challenge the common man to contest election or tolerate atrocities of the political class knowing well that he can be beaten in his own game.

Talking of Public Inconvenience………
 ·         Public is inconvenienced due to stoppage of four metro stations? Have a heart; please think of public inconvenience when police turns a blind eye to book a criminal because there is an opportunity to make mullah or the victim is a ‘nobody’ or they have already received the protection money (hafta) from the culprits.
·         Think of the inconvenience to public when roads remain closed to provide pass to VVIP cavalcades.
·        Think of the inconvenience to public when we have to bribe the corrupt officials to receive what is lawfully due to us and yet we cannot get it.

Talking of national pride and Republic Day Parade……..
 ·         Arvind Kejriwal is right when he questions what exactly are we celebrating on 26 January? Normally congress would have let the protest go on if not for the impending Republic Day function that looms large barely five days ahead. Now they have been put on the mat and are forced to take a call to decide which way they want to go. They are not liking this one bit. At least for the Congress Republic Day this year has no more value than a tool to show Arvind Kejriwal in poor light.
·         BJP gleefully waits when Congress is forced to pull off the rug and force re-elections for Delhi. Republic Day brings them the excitement of 20-20 match.
·         I am willing to grant AAP the shrewdness (read political acumen) to have started the protest by carefully considering the stakes of their political opponents.
